I can be changed by what happens to me, but I refuse to be reduced by it.
– Maya Angelou
Tell me, how many times do you get reminded of pain from your past? Or even now, today? Do you allow it to have an impact on your day-to-day thoughts?
Do you allow things that happened in your past to come back and tangle your mind from time to time, where it makes you question who you are and whether you were right or wrong…?
Do you allow new things, today, to tangle your mind to the point where you are questioning who you are and whether or not you are making the right decisions?
No matter how much your body and brain and heart hurts, always keep on trying. Don’t give up.
– Sandra Scala
The thing is, for me (as I know it does for a lot of people), “things” can really hit me. Hard. Especially, if it involves my family. And especially if it has already happened in my past. Whether it was two days ago, two years ago, or twenty years ago. It still sometimes hurts…
I thought of the song, “Everybody Hurts” by REM, and I wanted to share it today – for those who are struggling in their lives right now. I hope that you can take a moment and watch this version of it.
Let your mind flow with the lyrics, the sound…sing along, sway back and forth, curl up into a ball. Whatever makes you feel good. Just take that moment to really focus on yourself and what is important to you – and understand – everybody hurts – whether they show it or not.
You are NOT alone. And although sometimes it may feel like it, life really does go on. Life will continue, and you just have to find a way to keep on pushing forward. To keep trying.
Don’t ever feel ashamed for what you are thinking or for what you believe. Be open and honest with how you feel to the people who are supportive of you and your decisions. If they don’t understand, then maybe it’s time to re-evaluate your situation. Find a solution to the problem that at the end of the day, is going to make and keep you (and your family) happy. If you’re happy, people around you are happy. ❤️
Find yourself. Trust yourself. And keep holding on…
Thank you for reading, and have a beautiful day!
Let’s untangle our mind, and set it free…
