Super Bowl Bacon Cheese Dip with Ground Beef Recipe

I’ve always made a cheese dip for the longest time for special occasions – it’s a favourite dish guaranteed to be finished in no time – and if not, it’s great for leftovers the next day (refrigerate)!

Last year, I decided to change it up a bit, and made it into a football bacon cheese dip with ground beef. A 9×9 inch pan is ideal for this dish. Here’s how I made it!

For the main dip (bottom layer), you will need:
➡️ Cream Cheese (2 blocks)
➡️ Sour Cream (4 oz)
➡️ Mayonnaise (4 tbsp)

Layer:
➡️ Salsa Dip

To prepare the ground beef, you will need:
➡️ 2 lbs lean ground beef
➡️ Olive Oil
➡️ White Onion
➡️ 3 Garlic Cloves (chopped)
➡️ Garlic Powder
➡️ Italian Seasoning
➡️ Salt & Pepper

For the “veggie” layer, you will need:
➡️ Red Onion (finely chopped)
➡️ Green Pepper (finely chopped)

To top it off, you will need:
➡️ Cheddar Cheese (1 or 2 blocks)
➡️ Scallions, chopped finely
➡️ Bacon (cut into small chunks)

Don’t forget you will need Tortilla Chips! I use Tostitos Scoops!

INSTRUCTIONS:

➜ First, fry up the bacon so that you can chop it into small chunks for the top layer!

➜ Then, prepare the beef so that it can cool down a bit…here’s how I do mine:
➜ Add the olive oil to a frying pan on medium to high heat. Once it is hot enough, lower the heat to medium, and add the white onion. You’re going to saute the onion, then add the garlic. Once the garlic is golden brown, you can turn up the heat and add the ground beef. Mix Mix Mix until the beef is partly cooked, then strain the grease. Put the beef back onto the stove, and add your Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and garlic powder (extra flavour!). Mix until cooked and put it aside!

➜ The bottom layer, you’re going to prepare in a bowl. Add the cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise together and mix (I use an electric blender, but you can also mash it together if you like!). You want it to be smooth. Don’t forget to put some aside so that you can make the laces after! 😉

➜ Then, you are going to form that into a football shape, however thick you want it…remember, you want enough so that you can scoop it and taste it. It also has to hold the other layers!

➜ Next, add the ground beef – keep some extra to make the field at the end!

➜ Then, you are going to spread the salsa on top.

➜ Add your chopped red onion and green pepper over the salsa – I usually just sprinkle it all over!!

➜ Grab handfuls of the grated cheddar cheese, and sprinkle it all over!

➜ Add the bacon on top, and all around the football shape! It’s a little tough, but it does all hold together!

➜ Grab the remaining cream cheese blend and make your laces on top!

➜ That extra ground beef I mentioned? This is where you sprinkle it on the bottom of the pan, and then top it off with the scallions!! It’s an extra treat for those who want some extra beef. And if there are some who don’t like scallions, they have the option to have it!

Get your tostitos, scoop, and dive in!!

Now please remember, these are the ingredients that I use. You can use/add whatever you like! AND, you don’t always have to make a football. You can do this dip however you like it! I thought I would share since Super Bowl is just around the corner!! 🥰
